Bottle Crowing

How many times have you heard the term Bottle Crowing. And yet you do not know what it is . You are in the solo mid position and your opponent just doesn't seem to be short of HP or MP. He keeps on spamming his skills. Although you too do that, after some point in time you are out of Mana. But you look at him and he still has a healthy amount of Mana Points. His items are no great regen items either. It keeps you wondering what are you doing wrong.

Its nothing wrong on your part but something that he is doing right. He is bottle crowing. In DoTa , the courier can be used to refill the bottle. The bottle is an item that you buy in the shop for 600 gold.   As the name suggests, it is a bottle which contains water. You get 3 sips of the bottle before it becomes empty. Each sip heals you for HP and MP. However the bottle can be refilled in only two ways.

• Go to the fountain
• Get a Rune

When you go to the fountain which is in the south - west for the sentinel and the north - east for the scourge, the bottle fills up automatically. 

However if you go back to base you lose precious farm as well as precious XP(Experience Points) in the meantime. 

In the game there are two rune spots. 

One near Roshan and the other near the Sentinel Secret Shop in the River.

At every even minute mark a Rune spawns at any of these two spots randomly. The runes can be any of the following.

• Haste Rune ( Makes you move at 522 Movement Speed)

• Double Damage Rune ( Doubles your base damage )

• Invisibility Rune (Makes you invisible for seconds )

• Illusion Rune ( Creates 2 Illusions of Yourself)

• Regeneration Rune (restores 3000 health and 2000 mana over 30 seconds)

So what you can do as one alternative to the going-back-to-base and refilling your bottle is grab a rune. Grabbing a rune effectively gives you that rune in your bottle which you can use at your leisure and then after that you get a full bottle with 3 sips.

But what if you are unable to grab a rune (especially because your opponent or some ally picks it up)?

You can give your bottle to the courier , have it go to base on account of which the bottle would instantly fill up. You can then have the courier give you the full bottle .

How to do it?

What i usually do is i Place the Bottle on the ground behind the tower (once its empty).

Then i have the courier pick it up , press shift, send the courier to base, keep on pressing shift, Get the Courier deliver the items to u.


When you press shift it means that the courier completes its assigned tasks in a scheduled manner.






Note

In Dota you can use the couriers with bottles to pick up runes. The courier has to use the rune before passing the full bottle to the Hero. However the flying courier would not gain the buffs (invisibilty, haste ) on itself.
In Dota 2 You cannot do this.
